Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Lille (IEP)

Minority Rights Group International

Founded in 1991, the Institut d’Etudes Politiques (IEP) Lille forms part of the National Foundation of Political Sciences, a network of academic institutions promoting the field of political science, based in Paris, Strasbourg, Bordeaux, Rennes, Grenoble, Lyon, Toulouse, and Aix-en- Provence. IEP Lille provides highly qualified academic programmes in the field of political science and contributes to preparing the newest generation for careers in government, European and international administration, in research, and in management. Benefiting from an international and multi-disciplinary perspective, the academic programmes help mould students in the principles of academic excellence and expose them to a wide variety of professional discoveries. Another aspect, that sets IEP Lille apart from its sister institutes, is its specialisation in European and International Studies. The IEP Lille also prides itself on its ability to enhance and promote an internationalisation of its academic programmes. Strong partnerships are maintained with foreign universities in the framework of a ‘double degree scheme’ with the University of Kent in England, the University of Salamanca in Spain and the Universities of Munster and Constance in Germany. Under the able direction of Pierre Mathiot, the newly-elected director, the IEP will provide logistical aid and support for the interdisciplinary conference cycle. Availing of a long-standing tradition of conferences and professional meetings, the institute is extremely competent in the management and technical setting up of such events. Open to the principle of shared information, the IEP regularly invites prominent and highly qualified experts in all fields to interact with the students, leading to a free exchange of information and opinions. In this respect and so many others, the IEP Lille is an admirable partner and participant in INFOCON. The assimilation of its role in project into the academic programmes, as exemplified by the enhancement of the Master’s programme in “Conflict Analysis”, is testimony to its commitment to help initiate the youth of today into the academic debate of tomorrow.
